To the Victory!

Description

This comedy-drama treats post-war Ukraine through the narrow, everyday pressures that stop a creative project before it starts: a frustrated film director is refused the chance to make his movie and must reconfigure work, income and routine around that refusal. Rather than broad political statements, the film follows specific actions — attempts to find alternative commissions, arguments with local officials, and repeated phone calls to a wife and daughter who live in Vienna — to show how a professional shut out of his profession rearranges his life. The narrative follows the director as he lives apart from his family and keeps insisting that hard times will pass and life will return to normal. The cast includes Valentyn Vasyanovych, Vladlen Odudenko, Marianna Novikova and Hryhorii Naumov. Released in 2026, the film leaves its central relationships unresolved: the director persists in workarounds and in hope, while his wife and daughter remain reluctant to return.
