GunBlade & Me

Description

A washed-up Sydney filmmaker sets out to determine why his viral high-school web series, GunBlade Adventures, was cancelled. The film presents that pursuit as a series of practical moves: tracking the production history of the show, assembling fragments of its online life and confronting the institutional and personal decisions that ended its run. The cast includes Ken Welsh, Blake Williams, Jacob Wood and Xavier Schmitzer, and the picture was released in 2026. In the middle of the film the investigation expands beyond nostalgia into active reconstruction: the protagonist gathers testimony, reviews the series’ own materials and follows leads that contradict one another. Scenes concentrate on concrete steps — locating records, confronting former collaborators, reviewing archives and tracing how specific choices and incidents produced the cancellation — creating a map of events rather than resolving the question.
