The Absurd Story of Gialappa’s Band
Description
The film confronts the task of accounting for four decades of Gialappa’s Band’s public and creative impact. It reconstructs the trio’s professional history by following Giorgio Gherarducci, Marco Santin and Carlo Taranto and by mapping how their routines and off-microphone interventions altered the language of Italian entertainment. The documentary records episodes of invention and institutional change rather than offering a fictionalised account. The cast includes Maccio Capatonda, Fabio De Luigi, Walter Veltroni and Marco Santin, who appear alongside archival material and testimony to outline shifts in style, audience reach and media formats. Released in 2026, the film concentrates on the group’s trajectory from their beginnings on the frequencies of Radio Popolare to their presence across Italian radio and television over forty years.
