Miss Representation: Rise Up

Description

This documentary distinguishes itself by directly linking the spread of sexism and misogyny on digital platforms to measurable impacts on women's mental health, personal agency and political power, rather than treating those harms as isolated incidents. It compiles first-hand accounts and public-facing contributions to show how online harassment, amplified content algorithms and mainstream media framing intersect to reduce participation and agency. The cast includes Jameela Jamil, Gretchen Carlson, Frances Haugen and Hillary Clinton. The film was released in 2026. A second strand follows institutional and civic responses: it records how campaigns, newsroom decisions and platform governance shape public debate and influence who is heard in politics and public life. That strand presents concrete examples of harassment and political pushback and documents how those events translate into debates over policy, representation and the structures that govern online speech.
