The 4 Lives of Pyotr Mamonov

Description

Pyotr Mamonov seeks a stable sense of who he is while four conflicting personas—the rowdy drifter, the rock star, the acclaimed actor and the Orthodox hermit—pull him in different directions. The film documents that tension by assembling unique archival material, interviews recorded over many years, and previously unseen home videos; it records conversations and memories rather than inventing a single narrative line. Specific moments of public performance sit beside private footage and testimonial material, and the film traces how those competing selves shape Mamonov’s choices and public reception. The cast includes Ivan Okhlobystin, Pyotr Mamonov, Pavel Lungin and Sergey Shnurov. Released in 2026, the documentary presents a chronological reconstruction of Mamonov’s life, following the stages from his early public roles through later withdrawal into religious life; the story is set across the successive phases of his personal and professional biography.
