GJLS: Berapi-Api
Description
A battered red fire hydrant sits crooked on the curb outside a training yard; three young men measure themselves by the way it gleams under floodlights and by the size of the hoses they can shoulder. They are obsessed with becoming firefighters so they can look heroic by putting out fires. The film opens on that single, physical ambition: to wear the uniform, answer alarms, and be seen fighting flames. The film is a 2026 comedy and the cast includes Hifdzi Khoir, Raffan Al Aryan, Ananta Rispo, and Rio Dumatubun. The central figures are three best friends whose plan is straightforward and public: join the firefighting team quickly and perform the dramatic rescues that make people grateful. Instead of immediate success, their route runs up against formal training and an elite unit known among recruits as the Algojo Api squad. They fail during their training with the legendary Algojo Api squad. That failure is specific and consequential: the trio does not pass drills or exercises required to graduate into frontline firefighting. As a result they lose access to the kinds of calls that involve active fires and visible heroism. The film follows the practical aftermath of that failed qualification. After the training setback they are reassigned to duties described in the story as seemingly “trivial” assignments. Those tasks occupy the characters and interrupt their plan to be first on the scene of a blaze; the screenplay treats these assignments as administrative and low-profile work that keeps them away from the alarms they crave. The friends react to those assignments with arguments, schemes, and repeated attempts to change their status. When they attempt to take a shortcut to join the firefighting team as soon as possible, their plan does not produce the straightforward advancement they expect. The synopsis identifies this move as the turning point from domestic ambitions to real danger. The attempt to accelerate their entry into the team triggers consequences that the film lays out in concrete steps: a botched maneuver during a non-frontline operation leads to a larger operational complication. That complication escalates into a dangerous mission to rescue children from a criminal syndicate. Midway through the film the three friends are pulled out of menial tasks and into coordinated action: they must locate the children, confront intermediaries tied to the syndicate, and take part in extraction efforts that the plot presents as both risky and urgent. The material consists of specific sequences of pursuit, confined spaces, and improvised rescue work rather than abstract moral reckonings. The middle of the film concentrates on the mechanics of that rescue mission: planning improvised entries, threading through obstacles placed by the syndicate, and repeatedly attempting to reach the children while their qualifications remain in question. The narrative itemizes setbacks—missed signals, narrow escapes, and the need to protect untrained teammates—so that the central action is a sequence of concrete operations rather than a resolved outcome.
