Rio de Janeiro Sets New Filming Record in 2025
In 2025, Rio de Janeiro experienced a significant uptick in film production, reaching a total of 10,930 filming days. This figure marks a 24.6% increase compared to the previous year, highlighting the city's growing appeal as a destination for filmmakers. Leonardo Edde, the president of RioFilme, shared this information on March 12 during the Fórum Audiovisual & Turismo, an event focused on the intersection of audiovisual projects and tourism.
The rise in filming days indicates the effectiveness of various initiatives aimed at promoting Rio as a vibrant location for both local and international projects. The city’s diverse landscapes and cultural richness continue to attract a wide range of productions, enhancing its reputation in the global film industry.
As the film sector expands in Rio, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential economic benefits this growth can bring, including job creation and increased tourism. The continued investment in infrastructure and support for filmmakers is expected to further bolster this trend in the coming years.
