Description

The rusted swings in the empty playground serve as a reminder of lost childhood innocence. In Romania, 1989, ten-year-old Maria witnesses the abrupt disappearance of her sister, an event that shatters her world. As the oppressive regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu hangs overhead, Maria is left to cope with the fear and uncertainty that envelops her small town. She struggles to understand the abrupt changes around her while trying to hold on to her remaining sense of safety. As she searches for answers, Maria encounters various townspeople who reflect the broader turmoil of a society on the brink of transformation. The film features a cast that includes Emma Ioana Mogos and Marina Palii. With each passing moment, the burden of her sister’s absence weighs heavily on her, forcing Maria to confront the harsh realities of growing up amid chaos.
