Third Installment of 'National Treasure' Confirmed by Director

Director Jon Turteltaub has announced that a third installment of the popular National Treasure film series is officially in development. The announcement was made during a recent live recording of the National Treasure Hunt podcast, where Turteltaub discussed the progress of the project.

The National Treasure franchise, which began with the release of the first film in 2004 and continued with a sequel in 2007, features Nicolas Cage in the role of Ben Gates, a treasure hunter who embarks on adventures rooted in American history. The films have garnered a dedicated fan base over the years, making the news of a third film particularly significant for audiences eager for more content in this beloved series.

As the project moves forward, Turteltaub confirmed that a script is already in place, indicating that the development process is well underway. The return of the franchise comes at a time when nostalgia for early 2000s films is resonating with viewers, suggesting that National Treasure 3 could attract both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers interested in historical adventure narratives.
