Downtown Festival Reveals 2026 Film Program Featuring Notable Directors

The Downtown Festival has unveiled its film lineup for the 2026 edition, scheduled to take place from October 9 to October 18 in Lower Manhattan. This annual event, now in its third year, highlights independent cinema and showcases a diverse range of films from both established and emerging creators.

Among the featured works are films by renowned director Paul Schrader and actor-turned-director Ethan Hawke, whose contributions are expected to draw significant attention. The festival aims to celebrate artistic expression through various mediums, focusing on the unique perspectives of filmmakers who often work outside the mainstream.

This year's selection underscores the festival's commitment to promoting innovative storytelling and providing a platform for artists whose voices might otherwise go unheard. As the festival approaches, it serves as a timely reminder of the importance of independent film in reflecting cultural narratives and fostering dialogue within the community.
