Wheels of Forgotten Dreams

Description

The film follows three individuals—a painter, an actress, and an engineer—who have traded their previous lives for the road, becoming truck drivers in pursuit of the American dream. In a landscape where 4 million trucks transport 10.5 billion tons of freight annually, these drivers face unique challenges, particularly as many are immigrants who often remain within their ethnic communities while confined to the small spaces of their trucks. As they traverse the extensive network of US highways, the protagonists confront the realities of their choices and the limitations imposed by their circumstances. The documentary sheds light on the lives of those who might not fit the typical truck driver stereotype, highlighting their stories amidst the vast and often unseen world of freight transport.
