Ahmed, a young man from a middle-class Cairo family, aspires to be a concert pianist while facing the reality of impending war during the tense summer of 1967. He begins a pen-pal correspondence with an Austrian woman named Elizabeth, which complicates his ambitions and personal life. The film examines the challenges he encounters as he balances his dreams and the societal upheaval around him. The narrative unfolds over several decades, chronicling the evolution of Ahmed's relationships and aspirations from the late 1960s to the 1980s.
