The Longing

Description

The story takes place in a restaurant where a couple hires young people recently released from juvenile detention to assist in their reintegration into society. Among them is 18-year-old Yuto, who is eager to start anew with the support of the couple. The film focuses on the interactions and challenges faced by Yuto and his peers as they adapt to a life outside detention. As Yuto begins to settle in, he encounters various hurdles, including strained relationships with his family and the stigma associated with his past. The couple running the restaurant, portrayed by Satoshi Nikaido and Daiki Ido, provide mentorship and guidance, while also dealing with their own personal struggles. Throughout the film, tensions arise as Yuto and the others confront their previous mistakes and work towards building a stable future.
