The Kidnapping of a President

Description

A group of Finnish army officers gathers late one night, fueled by alcohol, to discuss a plan that quickly spirals out of control. Their objective is to kidnap Ståhlberg, Finland's retired first president, amid the politically charged atmosphere of the early 1930s. The operation takes a chaotic turn when they unwittingly include his determined wife, Ester Ståhlberg, in their scheme, complicating their already flawed execution. As the officers attempt to manage their unexpected hostage and their own ineptitude, the film blends comedic elements with historical drama, highlighting the absurdity of their situation. This 2026 release presents a unique take on a little-known episode in Finnish history. The cast includes Jussi Vatanen, Pertti Sveholm, Riitta Havukainen, and Aku Sipola.
