The Dance of A Soloist

Description

A worn-out metronome clicks steadily in a small, cluttered studio where Li Ze-yang sifts through his extensive musical collection. This documentary chronicles his efforts to document and preserve the sounds and traditions of various ethnic communities in Taiwan. Through interviews and archival footage, the film highlights the challenges he faces in an industry that often overlooks the rich diversity of Taiwanese music and the scarcity of resources dedicated to its preservation. As Li confronts the cultural and logistical obstacles that impede his work, he remains steadfast in his commitment to highlighting these musical voices. The film concludes with a sense of uncertainty as Li faces the possibility that his efforts may not be enough to safeguard this important cultural heritage for future generations.
