The Angel Maker

Description

The film follows the story of Paul Baumann, the founder of the Swiss religious community of Methernitha, who is known for inventing a mysterious energy machine. As the narrative unfolds, the focus shifts to a group of young women who come forward with serious allegations against him, claiming child abuse within the community. Their testimonies challenge the authority of Baumann and expose the darker aspects of the group's practices. In the middle of the film, the investigation into the allegations gains momentum, prompting scrutiny of the community's internal dynamics and the influence of its leader. As testimonies are revealed, conflicts arise between the accusers and the community members who defend Baumann, leading to a deeper examination of loyalty, belief, and the implications of power within a closed religious environment. The documentary captures the unfolding events as the women's courage to speak out begins to alter the landscape of Methernitha.
