The Adding Machine

Description

Mr. Zero faces replacement by a machine at his job, leading to a confrontation with his own inadequacies and darker instincts. As he struggles to fulfill his own needs and those of his wife, Mrs. Zero, and his work associate, Daisy, he embodies the frustration of being rendered obsolete in a society that prioritizes efficiency over humanity. The film features a cast that includes Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jennifer Tilly, Sarita Choudhury, and Michael Cyril Creighton. It is an experimental revival from The New Group, reflecting on the implications of being replaceable in a modern context, despite being based on a narrative written over a century ago. The story unfolds in a setting that mirrors contemporary workplace dynamics.
