Surviving Hurricane Otis

Description

The story takes place in the middle of the sea, off the coast of Acapulco, when an unexpected storm escalates into Hurricane Otis, a category 5 hurricane. Two men, Wirpul and his half-brother Candi, are aboard a small vessel and must try to survive as conditions deteriorate: waves rise, wind intensifies and every decision becomes urgent. The film follows their actions and interactions as they respond to the storm’s sudden escalation without revealing the outcome. The cast includes Kristyan Ferrer, Mónica del Carmen, Benny Emmanuel and Mónica Jiménez. Released in 2026, the film is a drama that lays out a sequence of immediate, concrete challenges — physical strain, rapid deterioration of the boat’s situation and tense exchanges between the brothers — and finishes on a note that is dark and relentlessly fast-moving, with very little comic relief.
