Serpenti

Description

This film presents a unique take on the comedy-drama genre through the story of Paolo Marra, who confesses to killing his wife without any clear motive. Driven by guilt, he seeks to turn himself in, intending to accept his punishment and regain some dignity for both himself and the victim. However, as he encounters careless police officers, overzealous lawyers, fortune-tellers, and convoluted bureaucratic obstacles, his attempts to be taken seriously are continually thwarted. The narrative unfolds into a Kafkaesque situation where his desire for redemption becomes a source of absurdity, highlighting the societal tendency to overlook those who genuinely seek to atone. The film features a cast that includes Leonardo Lidi, Alessandro Borghi, Pietro Castellitto, and Valeria Golino. Each character contributes to the unfolding dilemma as Paolo's quest for justice is met with confusion and indifference, ultimately revealing the folly of a system that complicates rather than facilitates the pursuit of redemption.
