Maremma

Description

The Maremma Goddess festival is a pivotal event in a village steeped in ancient customs, marked by the ritualistic sacrifice of a male bull every 12 years. This practice has consistently led to calamity for the villagers, despite the elders' attempts to avert disaster. In an effort to change their fate, the elders institute a new law: any household whose bull produces a male calf within the next 100 days must offer it to the goddess. As the deadline looms, villagers grapple with dread and determination, facing the possibility of losing their livestock and the weight of tradition. Among the cast are Mahadhan Bhupathiraju and Deepa Balu, who navigate the tensions that arise as the community confronts its fears. With the clock ticking, the villagers must decide whether to uphold their customs or challenge the cycle of sacrifice that has long governed their lives. The film culminates in a critical moment where the villagers' choices will determine the future of their community and the Maremma Goddess's influence over it.
