Description

Jang Yeong-sil, a brilliant scientist born into slavery, seeks to evade a death sentence issued by Ming China, which demands his execution or extradition. With King Sejong's protection, he joins Admiral Zheng He on a voyage to Europe, hoping to find refuge. Meanwhile, a 20th-century painting by Rubens titled "Man in Hanbok" surfaces at a London auction, depicting an unknown Asian figure, which connects back to Jang’s historical disappearance in the 15th century. As Jang faces the Pope in Italy, his claim that the Earth is round is met with hostility, leading to a perilous flight for survival. Alone in Florence, he encounters a young Leonardo da Vinci, who may hold the key to his future. The film closes with Jang in a precarious position, having narrowly escaped the Pope's orders but with his fate still uncertain.
