L’incontro
Description
Giorgio Bazzega's life is marked by the murder of his father in 1976, a crime committed by Walter Alasia, a young member of the Red Brigades. This loss leads Giorgio into a struggle with drug addiction and a yearning for revenge throughout his adolescence. Years later, he encounters the Gruppo dell’Incontro, a restorative justice initiative that facilitates meetings between victims and former perpetrators of political violence. Through these interactions, Giorgio confronts his past and the impact of his father's death. The film details Giorgio's path toward healing by recognizing the humanity of those who were once his enemies. As he engages in meaningful conversations and unexpected encounters, he begins to mend the deep wounds left by Italy’s Years of Lead. The film presents a serious exploration of personal and political trauma, underscored by moments of dark humor and an unhurried pace that allows for reflection.
