Let Our Mountains Live

Description

Terje Haugen and other Sami reindeer herders seek to protect their traditional lands from the encroachment of Europe’s largest wind farm. After a hard-fought legal battle, they achieve a notable victory in the Supreme Court, affirming their rights. However, their triumph is overshadowed by the state’s failure to implement changes, leading to escalating tensions between the Sami community and government authorities. Sissel Stormo Holtan, Elise Holtan Pavall Årbogen, and Lena Haugen join the struggle, revealing the broader issues of justice and trust that permeate their fight. As the herders continue to face obstacles, their situation becomes increasingly precarious. Despite their legal victory, the lack of action from the state leaves them frustrated and uncertain about the future of their land and way of life. The film highlights the ongoing struggle for recognition and the impacts of industrial development on indigenous rights, leaving viewers with a sense of unresolved tension as the characters confront an uncertain path ahead.
