Freak Show

Description

A group of young performers with disabilities is invited by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw to prepare for a provocative performance coinciding with the grand opening of the museum's new building. As Halloween approaches, the ensemble engages in intense rehearsals, led by artists Nadia Markiewicz, Agata Wąsik, and Daniel Kotowski, alongside "Babcia." They aim to reclaim the dark legacy of 19th-century "freak shows" and transform it into a radical statement that challenges societal norms. The documentary chronicles the performers as they use drag, opera, and monologues to express their personal experiences and stage their bodies. The narrative culminates in the official premiere at the museum, where their performance shocks the audience and confronts taboos surrounding marginalized bodies. The cast includes Nadia Markiewicz, Agata Wąsik, Daniel Kotowski, and others.
