Disciples

Description

"Disciples" is a documentary that examines the experiences of two boys as they enter a respected Hindu school on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi. The film presents a candid look at their education in ancient scripture, which reveals unsettling aspects of their training. This approach distinguishes it from other documentaries focused on religious or cultural education by highlighting the tension between revered traditions and the challenges faced by the students. As the boys adapt to their new environment, the film also uncovers the broader implications of their education within the context of modern society. The narrative shifts to include perspectives from the community surrounding the school, illustrating how these centuries-old practices intersect with contemporary issues, ultimately reflecting on the evolving nature of faith and tradition in today’s world.
