The closure of the Zurich cultural institution «Zukunft» in March 2025 prompted a response from the community. In light of this loss, filmmakers Stephan Schulz and Julian Kirchner produced an independent documentary to document the final days of «Zuki». The film captures the essence of this gathering place, highlighting the experiences and memories of those who frequented it. "Die Zukunft ist Vergangenheit," released in 2026, features contributions from various artists, including Markus Ott, Alex Dallas, Sacha Winkler, and Acid Pauli. The documentary focuses on the interactions and sentiments of the community as they face the reality of the institution's closure, reflecting on what made «Zuki» a unique cultural hub. The film illustrates the impact of this space on its visitors and the challenges encountered in preserving its legacy.
