Definition of Madness

Description

The film takes place in Estonia, focusing on a former chief psychiatrist of the Soviet Estonian Psychoneurological Hospital. Once the only professional sexologist in a nation where discussions of sex were largely absent, he embarks on a unique project involving the collection of frozen sounds. Alongside this endeavor, he works on restoring a manor that was previously owned by Peter the Great, blending personal history with the preservation of a significant historical site. As he delves deeper into his projects, the psychiatrist confronts the implications of his past and the societal taboos surrounding sexuality in his homeland. With the involvement of Arvo Haug and Arko Okk, the film documents the challenges he faces in reconciling his legacy with the evolving understanding of mental health and sexual identity. The film concludes without resolution, leaving the characters amidst unresolved tensions inherent in their pursuits.
