DAU
Description
The central conflict of "DAU" revolves around a Greek-born physicist in the USSR who is compelled to use his intellectual gifts to aid the state in developing the atomic bomb. Spanning from 1928 to 1968, the narrative details his increasing entanglement in a secret research institute where scientific inquiry is subjugated to power and surveillance. As his autonomy diminishes, he seeks solace in extramarital affairs, ultimately jeopardizing his relationships and sense of self. The film features a cast that includes Teodor Currentzis and Maria Nafpliotou, presenting a stark and complex portrait of a man caught between personal desires and political obligations. With a focus on the tension between the pursuit of knowledge and the moral implications of its application, "DAU" balances moments of dark humor with a rapid pace that underscores the protagonist's tumultuous experiences.
