Description

The film follows Nusantara Beat, a band that performs in Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese, as they and other third-generation artists with Indonesian heritage seek to integrate their cultural roots into contemporary art forms. Vanja van der Leeden, a culinary artist, expands on traditional Indonesian cuisine, while Myrthe Groot and Romee Mulder of fashion atelier Guave create clothing from batik. Sekan contributes as a DJ and photographer, reviving Indonesian pop music from the 1970s and 1980s through his record label Jiwa2. As these artists collaborate with their counterparts in Indonesia, they face the challenges of maintaining authenticity in their work while adapting to modern influences. The film concludes with the artists contemplating their next steps, leaving them at a crossroads in their creative endeavors.
