Photographer Aleix Plademunt and filmmaker Carlos Marques-Marcet examine the relationship between nature, imagery, and language through a focused study of three distinct botanical subjects. Old Tjikko, a 9,550-year-old tree in the Swedish tundra, Surtsey, a new island formed off the coast of Iceland only 63 years ago, and Lotus Gomeritus, the last known specimen of a rare plant from the Canary Islands, serve as focal points in this documentary. The film presents a decade-long collection of images that reflect on how these natural entities shape our understanding of the world. The narrative unfolds through a series of contemplative observations that challenge viewers to consider the significance of their visual encounters. As the filmmakers present this meditation, they also draw attention to the broader implications of how we construct meaning through images and words. The cast includes Gloria March and Natalia Tena.
