A Pint of Ink
Description
Ester Geislerová seeks to understand her father, Petr Geisler, who was a Japanologist, translator, journalist, educator, and calligrapher. Using photographs, home videos, letters, and personal recollections, she assembles a portrait of him as a charismatic yet elusive figure, even to those who were closest to him, including his family. The film features other family members, including Anna Geislerová and Lenka Geislerová, as they reflect on their relationships with Petr and how his enigmatic nature affected them. As Ester gathers these materials to piece together his life, the family faces the ongoing challenge of reconciling their memories with the man who remains a mystery, leaving them with unanswered questions about his true self.
